Punk goes Global with Flatfoot 56

Posted on February 20, 2012 by kejohns323 Posted in Music .

Music is embraced by all cultures. Its universality is interesting to think about as I listen to a group called Flatfoot 56. This group plays with a sound that is considered a faith-based and positive-natured brand of hardcore-tinged Celtic punk, comparable to the more well-known group Flogging Molly. There’s plenty of punkish noise; loud, roaring guitars, fast beats, and a little vocalization. Add to that bagpipes, mandolins, and Irish accents and you have this unique band! Flatfoot 56 could be the next big thing for such a lesser-acclaimed genre of the music realm.

Flatfoot 56 originated in 2000 around Chicago, Illinois and achieved national notoriety with their 2006 and 2007 records Knuckles Up and Jungle of the Midwest Sea. Their 2010 album, Black Thorn, impressively landed them on a total of nine Billboard Charts. Flatfoot 56 is at work on releasing an album this year, which will be released through record labels Paper + Plastick in the United States, Stomp Records in Canada, and People Like You in Europe. Currently they are playing at venues mostly located in Illinois. Check their tour page at Flatfoot56.com for specific details. You can stay connected with them through Facebook and Twitter. A free download of one of their latest hits titled “Courage” is also available!

Music makes the world go round, no matter what the style. Flatfoot 56 is the sound for riverdancers and headbangers everywhere! Check this group out for yourself and support these up-and-coming hardcore/punk sensations!
