The Book of Luke is probably one of favorite reads of this year. It is basically about this girl named Emily who moves back to a town where she left as a freshman and is now a senior. She is not a fan of this move. But quickly enough she reconnects with her group of best friends. One of whom has just been dumped by shy, quiet, Luke. Well Luke is not so shy and quiet anymore. In fact he is like the class jerk and just broke up with Emily’s new/old best friend via email. They decide the perfect way to get revenge is to make him fall for Emily and then rip his heart out. With this they decide to make a book and log how to make a guy change and be better. But then Emily really starts falling for Luke and she knows it is wrong but what is a girl to do?
This book really reminded me of one of my favorite movies John Tucker Must Die. That is enough for me to love it on its own. There was so much more to the story than just that. She was dealing with her struggle to be perfect and proper because of her mother. Her dad didn’t come back with them and her parents might be splitting up. She also didn’t get into Brown, which was the college she said she always wanted to go to since she was in 6th grade. The story made me really understand why she was the way she was. I flew through this book and I loved every second of it. I obviously gave it 5/5 starts.
