We are pleased to say that it exceeds anything that you might have previously read about Fit Snack.

The box itself is pleasant to look at and features the crisp Fit Snack logo on it. The product information sheet included in each box is well designed, organized, and easy to read and understand. Our box had a little bit of everything in it, with foods ranging from Columbia County Flax Granola to the famous Justin’s Nut Butter.

There was even a cool added bonus in the box which was a sample of Musclewerks Detrim Capsules. It helps to round out the overall theme of the box which is making lifestyle choices that will better your overall health and wellbeing.

What Women Need to Know About Football

What Women Need to Know About Football

Photo by Moazzam Brohi / Flickr

Football: it’s an American pastime that grabs our attention every fall and winter. From kick-off through overtime, die-hard sports fans and sports laymen are glued to the games. Whether you’re in the bleachers or on the couch, you can’t enjoy the game unless you know what’s going on.

So you can follow the game without a problem, you need to know the basics. How many points for what, and when a player is offsides are some of the key elements to enjoy a Sunday game. If you’re scratching your head and wondering what the point of a red flag is, then please take a timeout and read these basic facts about football. Be warned, it may lead to you wanting to enroll in a sport management course.

Know the Basic Point System

A touchdown is six points. Teams can kick for an extra, or try to run in into the endzone for a two-point conversion. Teams can kick for a field goal, which is worth three points, and a safety, or tackling a player with the ball in his end zone, is worth two points.

False Start and Offsides

A false start is when a player on the offensive team makes a move before the play has actually begun. Offsides is quite the opposite, It marks when a player on the defensive team make a move before the play has actually begun.

The Thin Yellow Line

The thin yellow line you see on the television marks how far a team has to go to get their next down. They’ve also started marking on television when a team is in the Red Zone, which mean that the offensive team has the ball at the 20 yard line and is primed for a touchdown.

Know When You’re Down and Out

A team has four downs to get to the next first down. So when the announcer says “3rd and 10,” it means that the offensive team is on their 3rd down and they have ten yards to go to first down. If a team is on their 4th down, they risk losing the ball to the other team  and might punt the ball. But if they’re “4th and inches,” they might try to run it.

Here Come the Flags

A yellow flag means a referee is calling a foul on the play. If a coach throws a red flag, then it’s a “coach’s challenge” which means they disagree with the foul called by the referee. When a red flag is thrown, the referees review the play and decide whether to reverse the foul call or not. If they don’t reverse it, the team that threw the red flag is charged with a time-out.

With a basic knowledge of football, you can enjoy a Sunday game with your friends and loved ones, cheering and booing when necessary. Since you’re now in the know, the mysteries of the pigskin are at your disposal when the offense makes a false start at 3rd and 10 and punts on 4th for a field goal.

ToastPop Girl’s Guide to Having School Spirit

Posted on August 17, 2012 by kejohns323 Posted in School, Uncategorized .

School Spirit            We’ve got spirit! Yes, we do! We’ve got spirit! How about you?  We hear about school spirit all throughout our educational career, but do we really know what it means? School spirit can be defined as emotional support for one’s educational institution. It’s about enjoying your school and being excited for it in all occasions. Basically it’s the outward expression of a positive attitude towards your school. Possessing it is a good reflection upon the school, which is why it is so often encouraged.

Finding people who possess school spirit is not difficult, especially at sporting events. Imagine being at a school football or baseball game. Scan the bleachers and you can easily find the student section. They can be the wildest spectators in the stands. From crazy wigs to painted faces or chests, they sport the school colors from head to toe. They would much rather stand and watch the game and cheer with their own noisemakers. I myself am one of those people. In in fact, I was voted the female contender for the “Most School Spirit” senior superlative at my high school, so I know how to be proud of my school and it’s my desire to see many others be the same way.  It’s fun to be that kind of person, but if painting your face or body in school colors isn’t your thing, there are some simpler ways to show pride in your school. The first way I’m going to talk about is owning and finding fan gear. It’s usually the first thing others will notice about you, so the possession of such items is very important to school spirit. We judge other people by their physical appearance. You can point out the Twilight-fanatics, the “Beliebers”, the Potter-heads, and other fad-follwers by the stuff they wear or own. Likewise, one can see the loyalty you have for your school simply by seeing a shirt or hat you wear. You can obtain your own fan gear at your school’s bookstore, or a local Wal-mart or sporting goods retailer. Most places can offer an incredible selection of paraphernalia for your institution. You and your family can pretty much eat, sleep, and breathe your athletic team if you wanted to!  If you’re not sure what to get, I recommend one of three things: a shirt, a lanyard, or some piece of car decoration. These are the absolute must-haves for the college student. The next thing to do is to attend the athletic events as often as you can. This act works similarly to the way the fan gear does. Visiting spectators will be impressed by a significant attendance on the part of the fans. The athletes and coaches very much appreciate it as well. Attending the sporting events supports your friends, your classmates, and even some of the school’s faculty. Not to mention they’re often free to students, and there can’t be a student section without you—the student.School Spirit

Finally, my last point, yet far from the least important. Think about why you attend the school you do. Reflect on why you like it. Perhaps you like its location, the athletic programs, or the academic standards. Or maybe it’s your family’s alma mater. Whatever your reason, you think it’s a good place to be. You cannot have school spirit without having a positive attitude towards your school. It’s why you wear and bear the school emblem and colors. It’s why you cheer at the ball games. It’s why you’re there.

To show the pride you have for your school, you don’t have act and sound like a crazy-looking frat kid if you don’t want to. Just have some fan gear, attend the games, and most importantly have a positive attitude your school. A great school deserves a great image, so represent yours everywhere you go and in everything you do!
