Every Sweet Tooth’s Dream

Posted on March 5, 2012 by kejohns323 Posted in Food .

Americans consume over two billion cookies a year or three hundred cookies for each person annually. At least one third of our country’s cookie quota is represented in Field Guide to Cookies: How to Identify and Bake Virtually Every Cookie Imaginable written by Anita Chu. It contains over one-hundred cookie recipes, along with historical facts and trivia about everybody’s favorite delectables. Each treat is colorfully displayed, and includes step-by-step instructions on baking, serving, and storing each one. A cookbook like this is every sweet tooth’s dream!

Google search this book to find the best deal. Click “Shopping Results” and Chu’s book should appear at the top of the list. Select it, and then a list of online stores appear. Tax and shipping (where applicable) are estimated calculations. Click on the vendor from which you want to buy to complete the purchase.

Admitting to having “a lifelong addiction to all things sweet”, Anita Chu couldn’t have a bigger sweet tooth and inspiration for writing such a book. Chu is an experienced baker, having participated in a six-month professional pastry course at Tante Marie’s Cooking School based in San Francisco, California. After graduating, she found herself living her dream of working full-time in a bakery, which is located in the East Bay. Chu is also a freelance food writer, stylist, and photographer and has had her work featured in many media spots like the New York Times, the Washington Post, and local publications like Edible East Bay.  In March 2010, Twitter named her one of  the Top 50 Best Chefs on Twitter. Her website, dessertfirstgirl.com, is a one-stop shop for any avid baker. She shares a ton of dessert recipes, gives advice on baking conversions, sells many other cookbooks and resources, demonstrates helpful cooking tips in videos, and even explains how to get enrolled in cooking school.

Three hundred cookies a year is a lot, but this cookbook is a good place to start!  Along with her website, these are the perfect resources for expanding culinary horizons. A sweet tooth couldn’t be more satisfied with all the traditional and unique desserts from Anita Chu’s Field Guide to Cookies!
