Lies Beneath by Anne Greenwood Brown. As soon as I found out what this book is about I jumped on it. I have always had a slight obsession with mermaids. In this book mermaids/mermen are scary and murderous. It is told in Calder’s point of view. Him and his sisters are in the planning stages of avenging their mothers death. Calder is all for it till he meets the daughter of the guy him and his sisters are supposed to kill. Now he is starting to feel emotion on his own without having to suck the life out of anyone. The end for someone is near…who will it be?
This book had a slightly slow start for me. Mostly because of the fact that Calder’s sister were just pure evil. When they actually got to the point of Calder trying to get his mothers killer out on the lake so his sisters can kill him it picked up. I liked that Calder was like that bad boy trying to be good but not. He doesn’t want to disappoint his sisters but how can he take away the girl he is somehow getting feelings for father? I enjoyed the back and forth struggle in Calder. If you can trudge through the first part of this book and are into the darker side of the mer-people I would recommend it. I personally gave it 4/5 stars.
