Baggu For Your Laptop & iPad

Posted on February 23, 2012 by James Agee Posted in Style, Tech .

It’s no secret that here at Toast Pop we love BAGGU, we don’t go to the grocery store without them, but we have some news to share! BAGGU now offers a line of cases for your laptop and iPad! We know one thing for sure, they are high quality and very durable, just like their bags! They come in a variety of cool colors, as one might expect, and fit a variety of different sized computers. It goes without saying, the iPad ones just come in one size, since there is only one size iPad on the market. The color choices are fun and brilliant just like all of their other products, another thing you don’t have to worry about with BAGGU is the color of their products, even the darkest colors they offer look fantastic and stand out. They continue to amaze us all with simplistic and functional products that look good! My only question is, what will BAGGU come up with next? One thing’s for sure, we will be waiting to hear about it, whatever it may be!

Apple Gets Planted in Grand Central Station

Posted on December 18, 2011 by kejohns323 Posted in Tech .

Everything is bigger in New York City-the buildings, the crowds, the traffic congestion, and now Apple’s newest retail store. According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple opened a new store in the Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan, New York last week at 10am on Friday, December 9th. This makes the fifth Apple store in New York City and one of three-hundred worldwide. It overlooks the main concourse on the east and northeast balconies. According to Apple, 2,500 people awaited the store’s grand opening and had received nearly 4,000 visitors before noon. To date, this is the biggest of Apple’s stores; spanning 23,000 square feet.

While the store itself has all the necessities of your typical Apple store, aesthetically it’s conformed to the style of the historical landmark. One feature very unique to this store would be the fifteen minute” express classes” on the use of Apple’s products. These classes are intended for commuters who are looking to kill time between departures. Also offered through iPhone apps are self-checkout and personal pick-up services for the customers on the go.

Even though Apple is not sharing revenues (unlike other venders in the building) with the Metropolitan Transit Authority- the company owning the Grand Central Terminal- they believe Apple’s presence quadruples rent and will strongly increase foot traffic to other retailers in the same area. Apple is shelling out $180 per square foot over their ten year lease on the space. Apple’s bill for the commercial space also includes paying $5 million to buy out the lease of the prior tenant, $1.1 million for yearly rent, and $2.5 million for construction. This is certainly a big bite for the big apple! The next time you’re experiencing the enormous grandeur of the city that never sleeps, stop by Grand Central and see Apple’s huge new store for yourself!

Steve Jobs Biography by Walter Isaacson

Posted on October 30, 2011 by Toast Pop Posted in Pop Culture .

Author Walter Isaacson is known for publishing biographies of the long-dead geniuses, Albert Einstein and Benjamin Franklin, tackled the task of producing the biography of Steve Jobs. The biography ‘Steve Jobs’ reaches out to current and future generations to explain the fascinating life of Steve Jobs. Using forty self-conducted interviews, along with interviews from family, friends, colleagues and even competitors.

Isaacson has written about the roller-coaster life of the creative perfectionist with a ferocious drive. Jobs cooperated with this book, asking for no control over what was written about him. He encouraged everyone to speak honestly, for a complete and accurate biography. He spoke candidly, and almost brutally honest about those that he worked with and competed against.

Critic Jane Maslin says, “Mr. Isaacson’s long view basically puts Mr. Jobs up there with Franklin and Einstein.” It’s a portrait of his legacy, and a story of how Jobs overcame skeptics and obstacles in the technology industry. Most importantly, it tells who he is as a man.

Steve Jobs: The Loss of a Technological Mastermind

Posted on October 14, 2011 by Toast Pop Posted in Tech, Uncategorized .

Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple, died on October 5, 2011, losing a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He passed peacefully with his family members surrounding him. He was only 56 years old.
In 1976, Jobs co-founded Apple and marketed the world’s first successful personal computer, the Apple II. He changed the worlds of computing, recorded music, and communication.
The world has truly lost a visionary. No one is quite sure what Apple will do without Jobs. He was a true genius and innovator. He was also a good human being according to his friends and family. He will truly be missed.
