Beautiful Disaster is probably one of the most frustrating books I have ever read. Jamie McGuire really yanked my chain in this novel. It follows an 18 year old girl named Abby. Abby has just moved away from home and is now at college far away. She is what you would call a “nice” girl. Her best friend, America gets a boyfriend and her boyfriend lives with his cousin Travis. Abby and Travis are complete opposites. Travis is the universities walking one night stand. Abby does not show any interest in Travis and somehow they become friends. They make a bet and if Abby loses she has to stay at Travis’ for a month. If Travis loses he has to stay abstinent for a month.
Now this story went up and down and east and west and who knows where else. One second everything is great then someone breathes wrong and it all goes down the hill. There were times I wanted to chuck this book at the wall and other times I loved it. This book has got the feels. It takes a lot for me to actually care enough about the characters to feel that intensity. I clicked with all of the characters, even the minor ones. It does have some semi-mature content, nothing graphic but just as a heads up. This book is definitely character driven. Truthfully I really enjoyed this book. I gave it 5/5 stars.
