Sweet Venom is the first book in the Medusa Girls series. I really liked Tera Lynn Childs’ take on Greek mythology. This book in particular focused on Medusa’s descendants. It starts off with two alternating P.O.V. Gretchen is used to getting called out to send the monsters back to their realm. Grace just moved to a new city and starts to see monsters. These two girls end up meeting each other and realizing they are identical. They find out that they are triplets. They find their other sister. Together they have the biggest fate of all. They have to protect the human world, if they can live long enough.
I have always loved Greek myths. Tera changed the story of Medusa and it intrigued me. I wasn’t sure where this series was going to go, truthfully I still don’t. It was pretty fast paced. I liked seeing it from both Grace and Gretchen and later on Greer’s point of view. It was a way to relate to them all since you saw their reaction to finding out who they are and what they are supposed to do. Some accepted it and some didn’t. I mean how would you feel if you had to learn how to fight monsters? I gave the book 4/5 stars. I felt as if the book could have had more to it but that is really my only real complaint.
