Loot Crate Unboxing August Box!

Posted on August 27, 2015 by Rob Flood Posted in Pop Culture .

Here is the Loot Crate for August! This month’s theme was Villians 2. There were some great things in this box and lots of cute little exclusives. Once again, I was not that impressed with the wearable. After a bit of research I still did not get it. At least it may come in handy when I get my own kitchen 🙂

If you want to check out Loot Crate, I say go for it. It is 20 bucks a month and you always get more than that in the box. I liked the final item best this month. I am not huge on Spider Man but the villains are kick ass! If you want to save 3 bucks on the Loot Crate box just type in Save3 at checkout to get a special discount.

Rethinking Grocery Shopping to Save You Money

Posted on November 9, 2013 by Toast Pop Posted in Food .

Rethinking Grocery Shopping to Save You MoneyFood is one of our major expenses in life. The average British citizen spends more than 100 quid a week on food. Sometimes our budgets just don’t stretch this far however thanks to koalapaydayloans.com this doesn’t mean missing out on essential shopping. Cutting down the cost of food can be hard for some to handle, but with careful planning you can cut your food budget nearly in half. Let’s explore a typical trip to the local grocery store and find ways to save money on food. Here are some wise tips to follow that will surely help you reduce your food budget.

Before you even set foot in a grocery store it is always smart to eat. Most people who go inside of a grocery store hungry, will spend much more than they normally would have. The old saying you’re eyes are bigger than your stomach come into play here. When you are hungry you brain tells you eat, and being inside a store full of food, you get overloaded with temptation. So be smart, and eat a meal before heading off to do your food shopping.

Going to the grocery store without a solid plan is almost as bad as going hungry. Make a list of the items you need before you head out. This will save you time, and keep you from buying impulse items that you don’t really need. This is a perfect way to reduce the cost of food.

Clipping coupons is not just for moms and grannies anymore; there are even shows dedicated to extreme coupon clipping. Coupons can save you a lot of money; you sometimes even find coupons that allow you to get items for free, or half off the original purchase price. Technology has caught up with coupons; now there is an endless list of coupon websites dedicated to saving money. Before you plan your next grocery visit, why not clip some coupons; they are free and not using them will be like throwing away money.

Buying store brands is another great way to save. Normally store brands have the same amount of product and ingredients as the more expensive national brands. There is no reason to purchase the same product for more, just because a label tells you so. Don’t worry what others may say, it’s not their money being thrown away.

Buying in bulk is often a great way to keep your food budget in check. But you have to be careful with buying in this fashion; you don’t want your food to spoil before you can eat it. If you have a good way to store bulk food, and enough time to finish it before it turns to rubbish, buying in bulk makes sense. A great way to buy in bulk is to purchase staple foods like beans, flour and sugar. These type foods will store for long periods of time, and are great to always have on hand.

Now that you know a few ways to make shopping more money efficient you will be well on your way to saving money when it comes to food. Stick to these simple ideas and you will see a rise in your bank account. Nothing is more rewarding than being able to save your hard earned money.

Saving Through Spending More

Posted on November 8, 2013 by Toast Pop Posted in Lifestyle .

Saving Through Spending MoreThe idea of saving money by spending more than you planned seems somewhat of a contradiction. In most cases, when people think of saving money their focus is on the here-and-now or within one week of the intended purchase. This savings strategy works well for many products and services, but not all. There are a small group of items that require special attention to maximize long-term savings instead of the usual immediate view of saving money.

Some items that fall into this smaller category of products and services are shoes, cell phones/smartphones, computers, winter clothing, and small kitchen appliances. As you can see, this list is very diverse both in functionality and price. Yet spending more for quality will save you money over time. One reason may be that there is no additional expense needed for several years. Another is there are benefits other than the cost of the item that will likely prevent you from spending money over a period of years. An example will illustrate each principle.

Shoes both protect and support the feet, and an ill-fitting shoe can cause blisters, calluses, or even contribute to back problems. For most people, their feet are essential body parts that help them go about their day with a minimum of trouble. They are taken for granted, except when they are injured or cause problems for other reasons. So the idea of spending more for a higher quality pair of shoes can save you money by not only lasting longer because they are made of a superior quality material, but also minimize the possibility of spending additional money for doctor’s visits or required medical treatment.

Saving Through Spending MoreTo illustrate this by the numbers, suppose there is a pair of quality shoes that costs 50 percent more than what you initially planned to spend – 93ÂŁ instead of 62ÂŁ. If this simply isn’t an option then you could consider Payday Loans to top up your savings to allow you to make the purchase. Your 62ÂŁ shoes may last you 18 months, while the higher quality pair would last twice as long, 36 months. Your cost per month would be 3.44ÂŁ for the cheaper shoes versus 2.58ÂŁ for the more expensive shoes over that 3 year period. Also consider that after 18 months you would have to buy another pair of the less expensive shoes, coming to a total of 62ÂŁ saved over the 36 month period. This amount does not include the potential health benefits and savings mentioned above.

When shopping for a computer, the average consumer can take advantage of immediate savings and still spend more than originally planned. This is one of those rare opportunities where both short and long term savings can be realized if the proper planning is done. The current computer technology is relevant for between three and five years on average, so the computer you purchase today should retain most of its functionality for a minimum of three years.

In deciding which computer to purchase, the quality of the components is one issue, while the amount of RAM, hard disk space, and processor are a second concern. Higher quality components will cost more initially, but will translate into a longer life of the computer, avoiding spending more money for a new unit sooner. Choosing a unit with the most technology you can afford now will avoid spending additional money later to upgrade the computer, or even buying another new one.

Retail Robin Soapbox / Workforce Appreciation Post

Posted on August 4, 2013 by kejohns323 Posted in Lifestyle .

retail robinSpongebob and other cartoons have made it look easy, but most customer service jobs can be really tough! Sure, there might not be much to flipping burgers, counting cash, and pushing buttons on a machine. It’s not so much what is done, but who it’s done for in a way. If I may be so bold to say, there seems to be something about food service and customer service that makes some people think they are above all else; that they can have what they want, how they want, when they want, and they have to storm on everyone’s parade if it can’t be that way. It’s appalling to think about how ignorant, arrogant, and inconsiderate some people can be in stores and restaurants. I know this for a fact because I have experience working retail and restaurant jobs. Many other people know it for a fact as well, as some in these lines of employment have taken to Retail Robin memes. If you’re unfamiliar with this type of meme, they satirically highlight the best and worst (but usually the worst) experiences on the job. Some might follow Retail Robin memes for the ridiculous humor and how they can relate to the situations, others might submit as a way of venting over a tough situation, but for me, it’s kind of a sad truth about certain people in society today.

Cashiers and fry cooks are people too. They’re men and women, young people and maybe not-so-young people, working to support their education, families, themselves—their own lives. I doubt it’s anybody’s dream job, but it may be one’s first job, or the only job they can find at the time. If it wasn’t for these hard-working people, food service and shopping wouldn’t be possible. Fast food grill teams cook and prepare each part of your meal, and they do their best to make sure it’s fresh, hot, and just right. Cashiers everywhere work to make you feel welcome and help you find what you want. While you depend on them for all these things, they depend on you just for something to do. I’m sure many really are pleased to assist you any way they can, but it would please them even more if you were a little more respectful and appreciative of their efforts. Here are some things you can do to not take their work for granted:

Know what you want when cashiers are ready to serve you
Be courteous and be ready
Watch your children

Follow store policies
Regard hours of service
Clean up when you’re done

Be considerate. Dictionary.com gives this definition of the word: “Showing kindly awareness or regard for another’s feelings, circumstances, ect.” This point really can sum up the whole of this article, but I mention it because there is nothing worse than a rude, irate customer! Such people can ruin anyone’s day. If a mistake is made, if you cannot be immediately assisted, or if you’re not happy with something, please don’t be rude, demeaning, and demanding to the employees (or the management). They are doing their best to tend to hundreds of other customers and responsibilities. It can be overwhelming enough as it is, so if you must confront somebody about an error, do it with a cool, level head and minimal (or no) derogatory language. Also, make an effort to point it out right away if you can. You might keep future mistakes from being made.

Be ready. Cashiers aren’t mind readers. Know what you want when they are ready to serve you, and tell them exactly what you want. If you want the combo meal, speak up and mention you want the combo meal. If you’re looking for something at a store, describing exact and defining details like style, brand, and type can be very helpful to associates who are lending you a hand. Make sure your cash, your payment card, and any coupons you might have are on hand and valid when you are ready to pay as well.

Clean up when you’re done. Just because somebody else is paid to clean up the messes in the store, doesn’t mean such a courtesy should be ignored. It takes only a few seconds out of your life to walk your trash to the trash can. Don’t waste liquids either. If someone is dealing with a trash bag full of unfinished drinks, it can be very messy and time consuming to clean up. I’ve had personal experience; it’s not fun. Don’t trash a store either. Try to keep the displays neat. Have you ever picked up something you thought was on sale, but found out at check out that it wasn’t? It was probably because it wasn’t in the right place. Help avoid this misunderstanding with others by returning any unwanted merchandise to the area where you first found it, or at least take it to a fitting room and an associate will put it back.

Regard hours of service. Understand that, near the beginning or end of shift or business hours, some preparation needs to be done for the next time or day of service. So, try not to be a last minute customer. Most people may not have a huge problem with late customers, but some closing shift employees can’t finish their jobs and leave while patrons are still in the store. It’s not openly admitted, but it’s especially annoying in retail if you don’t mind me saying. If you do happen to find yourself still around near closing time, try not to be long for the sake of the people still working.

Follow store policies. Most stores would like receipts and tags when doing returns. Only one coupon can be used per transaction. Clearance items cannot be returned. Become aware of how transactions like exchanges, returns, and discounts work at your store, and do your best to comply with them. I wouldn’t think store policies are too strict or too difficult to follow anyways. Business policies are usually set forth by corporate management to ensure the well-being and production of their profits. Anything going against them would affect the way and how much money is made. There also isn’t much employees can do to change or override the policies. And management shouldn’t try to work against them either. Your best bet is just to follow to the procedures or practices of the store, because you probably won’t get what you want any other way.

Watch your children. I’ve seen a few interesting Retail Robin memes involving experiences with parents and families. If you bring small children to the store with you, keep them close to you. Employees (and probably even other customers) don’t find it cute or adorable when rambunctious children are all over the store and making a mess of it. They also might get hurt if they are on or around some of the work equipment.

It may be hard to believe, but the lack of civil and courteous regard in customer service establishments is one of the the hardest things its workforce has to face. They’re paid to help you, and some even genuinely want to, but it isn’t really worth the work if you’re insensitive. They’re working hard to pay bills and provide for themselves and their families, much like you do I’m sure. So, be kind and try to make their day instead of spoiling it. Keep your children and yourself under control. Help them help you. Respect the property and the policies. Call them by name, compliment their hard work, give them a tip if you feel generous. It doesn’t matter who it is or what they do, everyone wants to be accepted and appreciated. Just a little bit of kindness towards your fellow cashier or fry cook the next time you go out shopping or out to eat is the best kind of paycheck they can get!

Features That Make A Book Interesting To Readers

Posted on June 5, 2013 by Toast Pop Posted in Books .

Features That Make A Book Interesting To ReadersWhat goes into the writing of a book?

Writing takes time and what is written down in a book often depends on the writer and the things that influence him during the process of creation.  While it may be a subjective process, writing is still mainly a way for an individual to express himself, his thoughts and his beliefs.

What really makes a book great and interesting?

To some people, the success of a book is measured by the amount of money gained from its sales; others through its merits and critical recognition. By all means, a good book can both be a literary and a commercial success and the only thing necessary for the writer is to make it appealing to readers as well as publishers.

Here are some of the essential characteristics that make a book interesting to readers:

  •     Good title – The title is first thing that readers remember when they see a book. A catchy, memorable title is enough to catch the attention of readers
  •     Compelling characters – A novel must have interesting and believable characters which help draw the interest of readers and make it memorable.  The characters should mimic real people even though they live in the world of fiction.
  •     Interesting dialogue – Interaction between the characters is contained in the dialogue. It forms a big part of the novel and shows the personality and interest of the characters.
  •     Conflict – A novel should discuss or address a conflict or struggle where the characters are involved, live, move with it and triumphed over the adversity.  A good conflict in a story creates an exciting plot.
  •     Precise writing – A good novel or book is written in accurate and concise language which all contributes to the development of its idea and build up the emotion of the readers. Therefore, every sentence and paragraph must have coherence and must be related to the main idea of the book.
  •     Impressionable – A great book or novel must be thought-provoking in such a way that it will leave readers with an idea, motivate and influence them , even long after they have read the book.
  •     Fulfilling story – A good book must satisfy the readers and must have a  clear understanding of the story, its characters and what goes on in it.
  •     Growth – A good book should encourage readers to grow together with the story its characters, meaning they should be able to derive a lesson from it. However, it must also leave a mystery to its characters or a gap to its ending just enough to allow readers to ponder and gain a new experience from it.
  •     A good ending – A good novel must also have a compelling story ending where all conflicts have been resolve, problems solved, and destinations are reached. A good story ending should also be memorable and leave the readers satisfied or longing for a next novel from the writer.

Readers’ tastes on books may vary since what is good to one person may not be interesting to another. But more often than not, a good book is always defined by its readers.

Fancy Box

Posted on November 5, 2012 by James Agee Posted in Lifestyle .

Fancy, the website that has been bringing us exceptionally amazing products and goods for quite some time has users in awe yet once more with their new subscription box! Anyone who has ever used the website knows how it works, but just in case you have somehow missed out and never used it before, here’s a quick rundown. HIgh quality and often high priced items are posted to the website and once you create an account you are able to click the button that says “fancy” on each item that you…well, fancy. You are then able to go back to these items later on or purchase the item. It’s a genius website that has claimed numerous hours of my time spent.

So what’s in the box? Good question, you’re going to love the answer! You know how a lot of subscription boxes send everyone the same thing each and every month? Fancy does not do that, you have the option to choose the category that you would like to be sent items from, for example: Men, Women, Home, Gadgets, Media. This is a cool twist on the subscription box idea because with such a vast catalogue like the website has, it would have been a shame not to diversify the items included in the boxes. The final and most important thing that we are sure you care the most about is getting the bang for your buck, right? Each month you only pay $30 and though that is on the higher end of some subscription boxes, you get $60+ worth of goods in your box every time.

The final verdict, get this box! We have yet to see a box that has such a vast selection of goods included in it, sends expensive and high quality items to you once a month, and does it for only $30.
