8 Amazing ’90s Shows I Want Back In My Life

Posted on July 29, 2013 by Toast Pop Posted in Lifestyle .

8 Amazing '90s Shows I Want Back In My LifeI miss being a kid. There are so many things I wish I could bring back. It isn’t even just being a kid, its more of just the time of the world I lived in. There is something about the 90s that just really makes me miss it all. Everything was perfect. The shows, the music (well…) and even the food (snacks) just had it all! We were even smarter as a nation! The things kids were searching up and learning about back when I was a kid were actually things that needed to be learned about. Now kids are too interested in searching up “swag meaning” rather than actually things that matter. Here are things I miss about being a kid. Here are a couple shows that I would KILL to have back!

The Shows

Moesha – This show seriously dealt with it all: premarital sex, comedy, death, love, flings, and even racism (which was kind of a really risky if you consider when the show came out).

Kenan & Kel – Remember Kenan Thompson from basically almost all live comedy shows today? Well this is where he got his start, on this amazing Disney show!

Roswell – This was kind of like X-Files but a little… less scary and more on the kids side of things. Which was nice because there was more of a “mystery” aspect rather than horror.

Boy Meets World – The ultimate classic. This show was perfect. I literally cannot think of anything that I do not like about this show. Everything was flawless and perfect when it comes to comparing it to other shows around this time period.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air – Another show that touched on almost all aspects of culture. It really dove into race quite a bit and sometimes dealt with some really deep stuff also.

Dawson’s Creek – This show basically paved the way for ANY predominantly white drama that had mostly teens in it. That isn’t racist at all, its just what happened. And I think no show could have done what it did like One Tree Hill, Everwood or the Hills.

Saved by the Bell – Very similar to Boy Meets World, in the whole ultimate nostalgia factor. It also paved the way for many TV relationships like Friends and other teen dramas.

3rd Rock from the Sun – I don’t think shows like the Office & Arrested Development could have existed if it wasn’t for 3rd Rock from the Sun.

ToastPop Girl’s Favorites: New Year’s Edition!

Posted on December 31, 2012 by kejohns323 Posted in Pop Culture .

It’s a good thing the world didn’t end a few weeks ago…because already there’s a lot to look forward to in 2013! It’s a new year for new beginnings, new entertainment, and so much more! ToastPop Girl has scanned the horizon for the some of the up and coming shows and attractions, and here’s what she has found and liked:

New Movies

Coming February is the life-and-death romance flick Warm Bodies. If you haven’t seen the previews for this one, when the world is majorly populated with the undead, a zombie and a live girl fall in love with each other. Also out in February is Safe Haven, the next Nicolas Sparks book to hit the silver screen and stars Julianne Hough.  Sephanie Meyer’s book “The Host” is the next to be produced for film and will be out in March. Disney’s next big production out that same month is Oz, the Great and Powerful. It seems to me the storyline is original, unrelated to the initial classic or the musical Wicked. I look forward to the next installments of Iron Man and Thor out in May and November respectively. And last but not least, the Hunger Games release in November, and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug release at the end of the year.

New Books

To say the very least, I’m excited for “Truth Stained Lies”, a new thriller and series from my favorite author, Terri Blackstock. A former lawyer and a judgmental investigative blogger find herself and her family in the middle of a murder investigation.  It will be available on March 12th and is currently available for pre-buy on Amazon.  In June, Sarah Dessen’s eleventh novel, called “The Moon and More” hits store shelves. USA Today provides some info on it, and even a previewing excerpt.

New Shows

ABC entertains the art of competitive cooking this coming year with a show called “The Taste”. Sixteen competitors, from amateur home-cookers to professionals, concoct dishes for some of the world’s most renowned chefs. “The Taste” airs Tuesday, January 22nd at 8/7c. And if it’s not too early to be thinking about it, Good Morning America is revealing the next season’s DWTS cast on February 28th! Starting January 14th on the CW is “The Carrie Diaries”. This teen drama is like a Sex and the City prequel highlighting the backstory of the series star, Carrie Bradshaw, in 1984. It stars AnnaSophia Robb, Freema Agyeman, and Austin Butler. Mel B. even seems to make an appearance, judging from the previews.

New Music

As always the music scene is alive and thriving in the New Year with some new music from many of your favorite people. Just to name a few, expect new albums from Selena Gomez, Niki Minaj, Taio Cruz, Mumford and Son, Darius Rucker, Bon Jovi, and Josh Groban. For those interested in the inspirational music scene,  Skillet, Switchfoot, Britt Nichole, Casting Crowns, are Chris Tomlin also a few of the many to have be finishing up in the studio as well. In addition, the long-time favorite Audio Adrenaline is said to be making a comeback this coming year with and new album and former DC Talk-er Kevin Max fronting.

Who doesn’t love the New Year?  It brings a chance to refine and reinvent yourself with fresh goals and ambitions. And it also has in tow plenty of fresh beats, books, broadcasts, and big screen events! What is 2013 bringing along that you’re waiting for? Shop Michelle Rose

Posted on October 14, 2011 by James Agee Posted in Style .

It is almost impossible to find cool things that are different and unique anymore, with all of the chaos of industrialized clothing and gifts. Yet, we sought out an amazing artist who creates unique things, and guess what? We found one! This jewelry creator describes the style that she creates as “Retro Futuristic Rock Star Style”.

Michelle Rose is a Los Angelas based entrepreneur who is making quite the impression on those who buy her jewelry. While her main talents consist of jewelry making, she also does her own graphic designing and promoting, and she does it well! We had the opportunity to get the inside scoop on what is behind this amazing artist with jewelry’s self made store.

When asked what got her started with jewelry making, Michelle told us,”I’ve been dabbling in jewelry making since I was a kid but was frustrated by my lack of training in creating components of my own design. Soon I found a way to laser cut plastic, which excited me, but that method has its limitations. I hope to take a metal casting class soon so I can create my own designs in three-dimensional metals, and perhaps other materials.” The fact that she uses different mediums when creating her jewelry is perhaps what makes it so unique.

We were curious if she does it for just a hobby or as a career, so we asked her and she responded with,”I left my job in the garment industry this year to pursue self-employment as a sole source of income. It’s been tough, but I am hoping to see an upswing within the next year as I realign myself and use my time to explore more creative outlets including creating more artistic clothing & jewelry pieces, handbags, paintings, and home decor items.” It’s possible to have a career in a field that you do enjoy working in, and Michelle is living proof of that. She currently only sells on the website called Etsy, but it appears that this business plan is serving her well.

Finally, we were curious as to what her plans are for the future of her business. We assumed that a business this creative has to have plans for expanding. She told us,”You’ve caught me in a major stage of transition! Many new things are coming up. It’s hard to say what exactly they will be, but as I said I want to work in a lot of other mediums. My new goal is to create more unique pieces with plenty of artistic value.” We can’t wait to see what is in store next for this artistic entrepreneur, but we have no doubt that it will be creative and surprise us all! With her unique sense of style and drive to make her brand successful, we know we will be hearing more about her in the future!

If you want to learn more about her business and where it is headed just check out her website at Michelle-Rose.com or to buy some of her uniquely styled jewelry pay a visit to her shop on Etsy by going to ShopMichelleRose.Etsy.com!
