ToastPop Girl’s What’s Hot for Halloween 2013

Posted on October 26, 2013 by kejohns323 Posted in Pop Culture .

So, Halloween is less than a week away. Are you frightened by indecision at the last minute? (Only all the time) Do you have any idea what costume you want to wear? (Neither do I) Do you wonder what the best treats would be to give your visitors? (I do too) Does your place even have a smidge of scary decoration for the holiday? (Neither does mine) These little details can be a few less things to fear if you know where to look for answers. I recently had some scary fun on the internet, searching for answers to these quandaries, and thought I’d share them with you. Hope they help you find just what you need to get ready for the holiday.

Top Costumes

Good Morning America recently presented the top searched costumes themes and characters on Google. Here are the results:

  1. The “Despicable Me” Minion– good for all ages.
  2. The jumpsuit from “Breaking Bad”– Since this season’s finale, searches for this costume have tripled since last year.
  3. A Fox– The spark in interest is in light of the YouTube hit from Ylvis, “What Does The Fox Say?”
  4. Duck Dynasty– Searches for this style are particularly popular in Texas and have also tripled since last year. This kind of costume will make anyone happy happy happy!
  5. Miley Cyrus’ outfit from her VMA performance– Just no twerking for your treats, please!
  6. Minecraft– To impress the nerds on your block…(See what I did there? LOL)
  7. Daenerys Targaryen from “Game of Thrones”– a different kind of princess to dress like this year.  She’s the second most popular character according to IMDB.
  8. Batman– Possibly generating thirty-six percent more interest than last year because of Ben Affleck’s possible affiliation to the role.
  9. Gatsby Dress– Party like it’s the 1920’s in this fun theme from the classic book and now motion picture; Popular in California and New York.
  10. Daft Punk– Skyrocketing search queries since their summer hit, surely you’ll “Get Lucky” in any costume contest or trek for trick-or-treating with this getup.

Top Candy

A site called Kidzworld.com rates some of the best and worst treats to hand out to your trick-or-treating visitors. Kids will be the majority of your visitors, after all.  To sum it up, anything that’s chocolate or sweet, juicy-flavored is the way to go. Healthy alternatives (believe it or not) and suckers—not so much.

The Best

  1. Kit Kats
  2. Resees peanut butter cups
  3. Smarties
  4. Starbursts
  5. Nerds
  6. Twix
  7. Sour Patch Kids
  8. Whoppers
  9. Skittles
  10. Tootsie Rolls

The Worst

  • Apples
  • Rasins
  • Candy Corn
  • Toothbrushes
  • Dum Dum suckers
  • Hard candy

Decoration

Find some inspiration for setting a spooky atmosphere from this Buzzfeed blogpost showcasing “20 Houses That Are Clearly Winning at Halloween”. You can’t go wrong with some inflatables, scarecrows, or zombies in the yard (or Nicholas Cage on the door).  If you’re decoration]carving pumpkins, try one of these designs from thumbpress.com. If you’re looking for cheap or DIY décor, look no further than Pinterest.
